Formula Yacht Spars Chairman Richard Balding and his crew on Philippides 2 win Swan European Championships with Swan 40 Christina in 3rd.

Philippides 2 with owner Formula Yacht Spars Chairman Richard Balding finished on top of the biggest class in the event. Richard and his championship winning crew were no strangers to silverware during the week, scoring five victories in seven races over the competition in Class B.
The team on board Philippides 2 (GBR) finished the regatta on a high, recording second place. The Swan 41 owner clearly enjoyed the final race in Class B: “Today was great - great winds, bright sunshine, great competition, and a good course - everything was wonderful!”
Both Philippides 2 and Christina received new Formula custom carbon rig packages in 2006. Since then, both boats have been campaigned hard and successfully in the Solent by their owners and crew. Both yachts saw significant performance improvements since receiving the Formula carbon rigs with less weight aloft and stiffer rigs.
